The story behing the dreamscape...
I grew up in the backwoods of East Texas and I was prone to venturing out in the woods and going farther than I should go. Long days filled with play, accompanied by my feral cats that I was determined to make my domestic tribe. I would on occasion start at the wild plum tree and get the green ones. Yes, I know my lips would come home swollen from all the unripe fruit filled with citric acid. I loved it! Not sure why I painted the fruits ripe? Maybe my dreams will tell me that next. I would venture out into the forest for a day of adventure and creativity. All the while with my mother ‘s voice in the back of my mind telling me not to go to certain places or not to “venture too far” because there’s always danger for unaccompanied young girls. Through the years, I have held tight, maybe too tight to this memory... I get this anxious, feeling that I have ventured too far, but maybe I’m not venturing far enough? On this frequent journey I would collect treasure. Precious crystals that were accidentally laid out by the workmen who were re-rocking the railroad track nearby and my pocket stuffed full of pennies that I put it on the track to be squashed by the Amtrak train. I look up, and I see this horse. No, it’s not a horse. He is paralyzing and looking right at me. It is the size of a building! As I look closer, it’s not just a horse. It’s a white unicorn netted with light and the right amount of fear beaconing me to stay away from where I was headed. I never looked back. But I’ve seen him in my prayers, and my thoughts, and those little moments where I see yellow butterflies. I think we will see him again.
